چکیده مقاله:

Plant biomass harvested after heavy-metal phytoremediation must be considered as a hazardous waste that should be contained or treated appropriately before disposal or reuse. This study provides an evaluation of extractants for the removal of lead from Abutilon Theophrastus biomass. The research was carried out a leaching study to determine the lead-extraction efficiency of the different leachants (water, several aqueous ammonium salts, and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid solution as lead extractants). The result of this study showed that, lead concentrations measured in leached biomass and in leachates were significantly different among the various leachants. Also the extraction strength of the leachants followed the order ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid>ammonium citrate> water ammonium phosphate > ammonium acetate, to , achieving lead extraction efficiencies of 96%, 67%, 4.2%, 3.9% and 0.3%, respectively, in single-stage extractions. In this study, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid is the most frequently lead extractants. (Akbarpour, F et al. Leaching of heavy metal from native plants by chemical leachants. Suppressing Heavy Metal Leaching through Ball Milling of Fly Ash

Ball milling is investigated as a method of reducing the leaching concentration (often termed stablilization) of heavy metals in municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash. Three heavy metals (Cu, Cr, Pb) loose much of their solubility in leachate by treating fly ash in a planetary ball mill, in which collisions between balls and fly ash drive various physical processes, as well as chemi...

Proteomics of heavy metal toxicity in plants.

Plants endure a variety of abiotic and biotic stresses, all of which cause major limitations to production. Among abiotic stressors, heavy metal contamination represents a global environmental problem endangering humans, animals, and plants. Exposure to heavy metals has been documented to induce changes in the expression of plant proteins. Proteins are macromolecules directly responsible for mo...

Heavy Metal Contaminations at Two Iranian Copper Mining Areas and the Remediation by Indigenous Plants

Background: High concentrations of various heavy metals of mine tailings can easily contaminate the environment. Such materials need monitoring and remediation to prevent them from polluting the environment and food chain. Materials & Methods: The concentrations of certain metals were evaluated in the soil samples at Sorkheh and Mazraeh copper mining areas in northwestern Iran, using three r...
